Nutritional muscular dystrophy in a cow: pathological findings and etiopathogenetic considerations

Aim of the paper is to describe the pathological findings related to a muscular dystrophy observed in a 6 y.o. lactating Friesian cow, spontaneously dead after 4 days of decubitus. Post-mortem examination revealed macroscopic changes of different muscle districts and histopathological findings referred to severe patterns with further features of sarcocystosis. Data suggested a nutritional muscular dystrophy whose causes, in the present work, are taken into account.
