Research on mesh type for complex ship

A proper meshing generation method for complex ship was studied, and a simplified frigate shape (SFS) was as the research object. Three types of structured, unstructured and hybrid mesh were calculated and compared. Research results show that the mesh type does not significantly affect the results, and the hybrid mesh has a better applicability than the structured mesh and less mesh than the unstructured mesh. To verify the accuracy of the hybrid mesh, CVN-73 (USS George Washington) with hybrid mesh was calculated and the simulation result was in good agreement with the wind tunnel test, which verifies that the hybrid mesh has advantages in complex ship simulation.
