Two different types of inverted-F antennas which can be integrated into a micro-SD (mu SD) card are presented. The antennas operate in the new band from 2.4835 to 2.5 GHz dedicated to medical applications. The volume available for the antenna in the mu SD card is only 11 x 3 x 1 mm(3). Performance in terms of bandwidth, the radiation efficiency and the gain of the two structures is compared and discussed. The mu SD card is intended to fit multiple devices with different ground plane dimensions. As an example, the influence of the mu SD card position on a standard printed circuit board of 100 x 40 mm(2) is also studied.
