摘要

The use of modern information systems in environmental management problems increases rapidly. The reason for such a phenomenon is the assistance they provide in decision-making. Simulation, modelling, geographical information systems, expert systems, etc. represent state of the art technologies which find use in all areas of agricultural sciences. The aim of this paper is to present an application which bridge the gap over GPS field data and GIS applications, allowing the user to view the recorded area with extreme accuracy, export registered map files in the most widespread GIS format (ESRI shape files), and perform basic area calculations with or without the use of a GIS. The entire application was developed using Microsoft Visual C# and ESRI MapObjects 2.4, for the area calculation Microsoft Excel 2003 was used. Wired (RS-232 protocol) and wireless communications (Bluetooth protocol) were used for data exchange between the recording device and the GPS receiver, allowing the user freedom of movement. A case study of the application is also presented. In this scenario the application was used to digitise the forest road network of an area.
