摘要

This study examines the social context of trust with regard to team-based designs in the novel environment of negotiating information technology (IT) work that will be outsourced by organizations. The effects of organizational social systems, internal and external team factors, and emergent perspectives were synthesized into a conceptual model for understanding these underlying factors and processes that affect the development of collective trust among team members in the contract negotiation phase of IT outsourcing. More specifically, the trust, information technology, and professional communication literature was evaluated and synthesized to provide this robust model to better understand team-based designs, trust development and the diversity and complexity of IT contract negotiations. The proposed general model is discussed showing theoretical linkages among the key constructs, and strategic and practical implications for designing and management teams and developing trust as a shared belief.
