Space and time evolution of the Abruzzo precipitation

This study assesses the climate trends of precipitation in a large number of locations in the Abruzzo region for the period 1951-2009. It highlights the reduction of annual precipitation, starting in 1980, due to a significant decrease in winter rainfall amount. This phenomenon seems to be the mesoscale realisation of a more general process that concerns the European area as the result of the new configuration of the Atlantic circulation that has been established through the %26apos;80 years of the 20th century.
