摘要

Human genome analysis by hybridization in mild conditions revealed multiple sequences partly homologous to the HIV-1 regulatory gene nef. Blot hybridization with total human DNA and with the human chromosome 19 gene library demonstrated variable homology of such sequences with nef. In some cases nef-like elements were adjacent and some of them appeared to be components of longer repeats. Sequencing of one of the cloned fragments of human chromosome 19 revealed that, alongside with short regions homologous to nef, it includes a region homologous to the env gene located close to nef in the HIV-1 genome. Approximately 700 nef-like elements were found in human chromosome 19; moreover, there were 16 regions homologous to the nef/env-like element. These sequences were located in different regions of human chromosome 19. The data obtained demonstrated that numerous sequences similar to some regions of exogenous HIV-1 are present in the human genome, in particular, in chromosome 19. Nucleotide sequences partly homologous to nef were also found in rodent genomes.
