The title compound, C17H16Cl2N2O3 center dot H2O, displays a trans conformation with respect to the C=N double bond. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 30.77 (5)degrees and there is one intramolecular N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, molecules are linked by hydrogen bonding to the water molecules of crystallization, which acts as both an acceptor and a donor, into a three-dimensional network.
