Analytical Solutions for Polarization Curve and Impedance of the Cathode Catalyst Layer with Fast Oxygen Transport in a PEM Fuel Cell

We report an exact solution to the system of equations for performance of the cathode catalyst layer (CCL) with fast oxygen transport in a PEM fuel cell. A simple equation for the CCL polarization curve is obtained. Steady-state profiles are used to obtain analytical expression for the CCL impedance. The impedance model is fitted to the experimental Nyquist curves and the CCL parameters resulted from fitting are discussed.
