摘要

This article describes the development and clinical application of a new impression tray for implant prosthodontics employing a special foil technique. The special feature of this impression tray is its basic surface which consists of a pierceable, transparent 15 mu m foil. This foil must fulfill two requirements: it needs to be easily pierceable for the impression coping screws and must at the same time prevent the uncontrolled oozing-out of impression material at the piercing points. The selection trials for the testing of three different foil systems will be illustrated and evaluated. In the end a foil made of polyamide with a thickness of 15 mu m was selected. It uses the advantages of both the open-tray and the closed-tray technique for implant impression. Impressions of a one-sided edentulous space implant in the mandible and an edentulous maxilla with six implants serve as a basis for the clinical examples. Here the practical handling of the impression trays will be described and discussed.
