摘要

The acidification of soils and waters (e.g. small streams, lakes, groundwater and spring water) by acid deposition is a global environmental threat declining slowly over decades despite a substantial reduction in pollutant emissions. By means of examplary data, the development and current state of water acidification in major regions of Germany (lowlands and mountainous regions) is described and discussed, as well as the effects of mitigating measures (reduction of emissions, forestry measures) on the recovery of waters from acidification (reversibility, regeneration). Special adaptation measures on the abstraction of drinking water concerning the use of acidified groundwater and spring water are explained.
