NEW MODULI OF SMOOTHNESS

We discuss various properties of the new modulus of smoothness
w(k,r)(phi)(f((r)), t)(p) := (0<h <= t)sup parallel to W-kh(r) (.) Delta(k)(h phi(.)) (f((r)), .)parallel to L-p[-1,1],
Where phi(x) := root 1-x(2) and W-delta(x) = ((1-x-delta phi(x)/2)(1+x-delta phi(x)/2))(1/2).
Related moduli with more general weights are also considered.
