摘要

Solid state mechanical activation (MA) followed by subsequent short-time heat treatment has been used to prepare some cathode (e.g., LiNi(1-y)Co(y)O(2)), anode (e.g., Li(2)Ti(3)O(7)) and solid state electrolyte (e.g., LiTi(2)(PO(4))(3)) materials with enhanced characteristics for lithium-ion batteries. The method allows one to realize intimate mixing of different kinds of reagents even in multicomponent systems. As-prepared materials are characterized by fine particles and high homogeneity. Short path lengths for both electronic and Li ion transport improve transport properties of electrode materials and their high-rate behavior as a result. Non-reactive MA leads to appearance of new high conductive grain boundaries which consist of nano-particulate phases with higher mobility of ions, thus increasing the total Li-ion conductivity. The new application of MA preparation of composite 'core-shell' electrode materials (e.g., surface modified LiCoO(2) and LiMn(2)O(4)) - is proposed.
