A three-dimensional spiral smooth machining path based on the expansion surface

摘要

High speed machining technology is becoming more and more important in modern NC machining. However, the disturbance caused by the change of velocity will cause damage to machine tool system and influence surface quality when the cutting tool moves at a high speed, so maintaining the stability of the machine tool motion is an important way to improve the surface quality of high speed processing. The paper proposes a three-dimensional spiral smooth machining path, which projects the surface firstly and expands it, and then plans an equal-interval spiral line in the expansion surface. Finally, the proposed method transforms the spiral line into a spatial spiral curve with a special algorithm. The tool path designed by this method has the advantages of no tool rising, smooth tool direction, and more uniform residual amount.
