摘要

The feasibility of using sodium oxalate in the dyeing of cotton fabrics with reactive dyes in place of inorganic salt (sodium sulfate or sodium chlorate) was studied. Sodium oxalate was compared with sodium formate and sodium citrate in cotton dyeing with reactive dyes. The results showed that sodium oxalate could be a suitable exhausting agent in the reactive dyeing process. The effect of sodium oxalate to enhance a photochemical reaction is also researched by measuring the color removal of the reactive dye solution. The results revealed that color removal of the dye solution containing sodium oxalate is 5.62% higher than that containing sodium sulfate after irradiation for 30 min. The overall results suggested that sodium oxalate has the potential not only as an exhausting agent for reactive dyeing of cotton but also as an accelerant for photochemical reaction in the treatment of dyeing wastewater.
