摘要

The after-glow of a scintillator is important for fast counting and/or timing applications. In this study, the particle size and physical and optical properties of Y2O3:Eu-0.08% synthesized by different sintering methods were analyzed. The sintering methods used were solid- and solution-state methods. The synthesized scintillators were deposed once and had a thickness of approximately 200 mu m and size of 5 cm x 5 cm. It was verified that the particle size of the spherical-type samples synthesized by the solution-state method was 70-200 nm. The rectangular plate-type particles obtained by the solid-state reaction were 100-130 nm in diameter and 30 nm thick. The photoluminescence spectra of the scintillators were obtained. Y2O3:Eu showed a maximum emission peak at 612 nm, corresponding to the D-5(0) -> F-7(2) transition of Eu3+. The solid-state synthesized sample showed a shorter after-glow time. It was verified that the scintillator synthesized by the solution-state method showed higher crystallinity than that obtained by the solid-state method.
