A highly sensitive gamma-radiation dosimeter based on the CeO2 nanowires

摘要

Solution of CeO2 nanowires synthesized by a hydrothermal method was investigated for the purpose of developing a new aqueous gamma-radiation dosimeter. The solution was exposed to a (CS)-C-137 gamma-radiation source at a dose rate of 2.4 x 10(-2) mu Gy/min at room temperature. The aqueous CeO2 nanowire dosimeter exhibited high sensitivity to gamma-radiation of dose less than 1000 mu Gy and a good linearity of response in dose range from 20 to 500 mu Gy. The nanowires dosimeter may be used as a highly sensitive as well as cost-effective dosimeter in ultra-low-close environment.
