The drying behavior of dairy cattle manure slabs were investigated in a convective tray-type dryer: Drying experiments were conducted on dairy cattle manure slabs with thicknesses of 5, 10, 15, and 20 nun at drying air temperatures of 90 degrees C, 100 degrees C, 110 degrees C, and 120 degrees C with drying air velocities of 0.5, 1, and 1.5 m/s. A diffusion model was used to describe the moisture transfer and then the effective diffusivity was determined for each temperature. The effective moisture diffusivity of dairy cattle manure slab varied from 1.67x 10(-6) to 11.79 x 10(-6)m(2)/s. The temperature dependence of the diffusivity coefficient was also described by the Arrhenius-type relationship. The activation energy of dairy cattle manure slab was in the range of 14.41 to 19.46 kJ/mol Three drying models (i.e., Henderson and Pabis, Lewis, and Page) were fitted to the experimental data. Based on the root mean square error values, the Page model showed the best fit among the three models.
