摘要

Providing robust and efficient routing is a very challenging issue due to the unique characteristics of three-dimensional underwater acoustic sensor networks (3D UWASNs). In this paper, we present a Multi-link Fault-tolerant Routing (MFR) protocol that tackles the issues of node and link failure in 3D UWASNs. In MFR, each sensor has a data structure called backup bin, which allows to construct main backup links and auxiliary backup links for repairing the failed links along the routing path. Simulation results show that MFR protocol can reduce node and link failures'impact in metrics of packet delivery ratio, network throughput and energy consumption in comparison with other routing protocols.
