Proline Recognition through C-H center dot center dot center dot pi Interaction within Crystal Structures of DL-Proline-Calix[4]pyrogallolarene Molecular Complexes

X-ray analyses of two calix[4]pyrogallolarene complexes with DL-proline have shown that they form host-guest-like 1:1 complexes in which the pyrrolidine ring of proline is incorporated into the bowl-shaped cavity of calix[4]pyrogallolarene through C-H center dot center dot center dot pi interactions.
