A Dimer-of-dimers Composed of Paddlewheel Diruthenium(II, III) Complexes and a Bridge of Tetrachlorohydroquinonate(2-) Derived by Intramolecular Charge Transfers

The reaction of a paddlewheel-type diruthenium(II, II) complex, [Ru-2(II,II)(o-MeOPhCO2)(4)(THF)(2)] ([Ru-2(II,II)]; o-MeOPhCO2-: o-anisate), and chloranil (QCl(4)) leads to a charge transfer from [Ru-2(II,II)] to QCl(4), forming a dimer-of-dimers of [Ru-2(II,II)]+ units bridged by tetrachlorohydroquinonate dianion (QCl(4)(2)-): [{Ru-2(II,III)(o-MeOPhCO2)(4)(THF)}(2)(QCl(4))].
