MULTIPLIERS OF PERTURBED CARTESIAN PRODUCTS WITH AN APPLICATION TO BSE-PROPERTY

Given semisimple commutative Banach algebras A and B and a norm decreasing homomorphism T : B -> A, we characterize the multipliers of the perturbed product Banach algebra A x(T) B. As an application it is shown that A x(T) B has the Bochner-Schoenberg-Eberlein property if and only if both A and B have this property.
