Mechanical Properties and Morphologies Observation of Biodegradable Polymer Composites filled with Rice Straw

摘要

In this paper, environment-friendly polymer matrix composites, filled with agricultural rice straw, were blended in a twin-screw extruder. The amount and particle sizes of rice straw are considered as mainly effective factors, respectively. The content of the straw are from 0 to 30 wt.%, and particle size is chosen by 3 classes. Mechanical properties of the products were studied by Tensile, flexural and impact test, and microstructure of the composites were also analyized by SEM. The relationship between mechanical properties and microstructure was also discussed in detail. The results show that the addition of rice straw has great effect on the mechanical of the composites, especially for the composites with high loading rice straw, due to the weak interfacial adhesioin between polymer matrix and straw.
