摘要

The development of quantum dot (QD) layers as color converters in phosphor-converted white laser diodes (pc-wLDs) is restricted due to their low stability under laser irradiation. The present study aims to develop a unique color converter geometry that enables the QD layer for high-power pc-wLDs. A red emitting QD layer was coated on a thermally stable and heat-conducting Al2O3-YAG:Ce composite ceramic (CC), which played dual role of yellow emitter and heat sink. Thus, thermal and flux pressure on the QD layer has been significantly mitigated. Under irradiation of a 5 W blue laser, the operating temperature for the QD layer was as low as similar to 68 degrees C. Furthermore, the CC-QD color converter and a blue LD were combined to fabricate pc-wLDs, which have exhibited superior color properties in terms of a high color rendering index (similar to 80), a high wall-plug efficiency (similar to 91 lm/W). and tunable color temperatures. This indicates the suitability of QD layer for high-power and high color rendering laser lighting.
