摘要

The aim of this study is to improve adsorption performance of diatomite for the removal of anionic dye from textile wastewaters through modification with Mg(OH)(2). MgCl2 and NaOH were mainly used to precipitate Mg(OH)(2) into diatomite using liquid-phase precipitation method. The modified diatomite was characterized by XRD and SEM techniques. The adsorption performances of two acid (anionic) dyes onto absorbents were investigated employing spectrophotometric technique. It was found that the modified diatomite showed better adsorption capability than the initial diatomite and Mg(OH)(2). Adsorption coverage over the surface of modified diatomite was studied using Langmuir's and Freundlich's models. The model parameters showed that the Freundlich model was better in simulation of the adsorption isotherm, suggesting some heterogeneity in the surface or pores of the diatomite.
