A New Terbium Coordination Polymer Constructed from 4-Oxo-1(4H) quinolineacetate: Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Fluorescent Properties

A new terbium complex, Tb(L)(2)center dot 2H(2)O [L = 4-oxo-1(4H)quinolineacetate] (1), has been synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, thermal analysis, and infraredspectroscopy, as well as single-crystal x-ray diffraction. Single-crystal x-ray analysis reveals that 1 is a three-dimensional supramolecular network built up from two-dimensional (2D) layers with the (4,4) net that is assembled via hydrogen bonding and pi center dot center dot center dot pi stacking interactions. Furthermore, the solid-state photofluorescent property of complex 1 has also been investigated.
