摘要

In order to test the micro-drill’s flank defects, an approach based on Householder orthogonal transform algorithm for fitting of margin and main cutting edges of micro-drill’s is proposed. For fitting micro-drill’s margin projection, first feature points’coordinates are sampled, and norm equations are obtained from the sampled data, then the Householder orthogonal transform algorithm is adopted, which does not change the length of transformed vectors. When the transform is completed, a Householder matrix is obtained so an upper triangular matrix is obtained, and the ellipse’s coefficients are obtained. Similarly the main cutting edges and others are fitted. Thus, micro-drill’s core width, chisel edge angle, rounded corner, chips, etc. can be tested easily. The presented approach provides a new solving method for ellipse and line fitting with advantages of programming easily and high precision.
