Ad hoc networks are special self-organized multi-hop networks with a collection of peer-to-peer independent mobiles nodes. Because of its particular character, its design of routing protocol becomes more important and more complex. In this paper, we propose a new ad hoc networks multicast routing protocol named MEMRP (Mesh-based Energy-conservation Multicast Routing Protocol). It constructs a mesh to connect group members by using the TG nodes selection mechanism. MEMRP is superior to other existing protocols in energy-conservation. The simulation results show that this approach is effective.
