A metamaterial-inspired wideband high-gain FABRY-Perot resonator microstrip patch antenna

摘要

In this article, a wide impedance bandwidth and gain bandwidth Fabry-Perot resonator microstrip patch antenna based on metamaterials was presented. The metamaterial superstrate, which is constructed by a doubly periodic array of complementary cross elements, achieved stable reflection phase response within the wide desired operation frequency range to broaden the bandwidth. This antenna worked at 13 GHz, and the simulated and measured impedance bandwidth (S-11<-10 dB) was 1.56 and 1.33 GHz, respectively. The simulated 3 dB gain bandwidth was about 1.1 GHz, and the measured results verified the design.
