A clustering algorithm using the tabu search approach with simulated annealing for vector quantization

In this paper, a cluster generation algorithm for vector quantization using a tabu search approach with simulated annealing is proposed. The main idea of this algorithm is to use the tabu search approach to generate non-local moves for the clusters and apply the simulated annealing technique to select the current best solution, thus improving the cluster generation and reducing the mean squared error. Preliminary experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is superior to the tabu search approach with Generalised Lloyd algorithm.
