摘要
A novel strain sensor was proposed by splicing a dual-core photonic crystal fiber (DC-PCF) with two single-mode fibers. Owning to the mode index difference between the two fiber cores of DC-PCF, a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) pattern was achieved and its transmission spectrum is sensitive to the microstress of the DC-PCF. We analyze the stress characteristics of the fiber sensor with different lengths of DC-PCF. It shows that transmission spectrum pattern of the MZI shifts to the long wavelength with a sensitivity about 1.4pm/me (for a 2-cm DC-PCF) and 1.9pm/me (for a 4-cm DC-PCF) under an axial microstress.
