摘要

A novel design of a coplanar waveguide-feed printed monopole antenna for dual-polarization applications is proposed in this article. The monopole is formed of a rectangular patch embedded with an hourglass-shaped slot. The overall dimensions of the antenna are kept at 40 x 40 mm(2). The measured impedance bandwidth achieved by the antenna is 123% from 2.5 to 10.5 GHz. The measured radiation pattern is omnidirectional in H-plane and bidirectional in E-plane. A low polarization ratio (<10 dB) arising from increased cross polarization due to asymmetric feed and slot in patch is obtained in the frequency band of 4.4 to 6.6 GHz. This makes the antenna useful for dual-polarization applications in this band.
