A new family of superconducting intercalation compound of MgxMNCl (M = Zr, Hf)

We have successfully synthesized a new family of Mg-intercalated superconductor MgxMNCl (M = Zr, Hf) with x <= 1.0 using the electrochemical technique. The values of T-c similar to 15 K for M = Zr and similar to 25 K for M = Hf are almost independent of x even for heavily Mg-intercalated samples of Mg0.8ZrNCl and Mg1.0HfNCl. Moreover, these values are the same as those of LixMNCl.
