A LED Driver with Line-voltage-compensation

摘要

This paper presents a line-voltage-compensation technique for the light emitting diode (LED) driver. The line voltage is detected from the pin of the LED-driver chip by the phase detection method, and then a dc voltage resulted from the detected line voltage is used to modulate the current flowing through the LEDs by certain mathematical operation. With the proposed technique, the power of the LED lighting system is maintained constantly without additional peripheral devices. Compared to the conventional line-voltage-compensation technique, the proposed technique shows the virtue of simplicity and small area. The LED drip with the proposed line-voltage-compensation is designed and simulated with 0.6 mu m BCD process. The simulation results show that the linear-adjustment rate is lower than 1%.
