摘要

Chemical and anatomical characteristics of Prunus armeniaca fibres harvested from north of Iran were investigated. Chemical properties of stem and branch wood were determined as: cellulose (49-51%), lignin (31-32%), ash content (0.5-1%), extractable materials in hot water (2-4%) and alcohol-acetone (3-5%). Cellulose, extractable materials in hot water and alcohol-acetone, ash content and lignin content were determined as (31-32%), (6-11%), (11-15%), (15-31%) and (38-41%) in bark samples, respectively. Anatomical features of stem and branch wood involve length and width of fibre, lumen width and cell wall thickness measured as 1000-1200, 14-16, 6-9, and 3-5 mu m, respectively. Regarding the papermaking fibrous properties, Apricot stem and branch wood has acceptable slenderness ratio; flexibility coefficient and fibre length are in the range of hardwood species. In general, results based on chemical and anatomical analysis indicated that apricot stem and branch wood fibres are promising fibrous raw material for pulp and papermaking purposes.
