摘要

Background: The circle of Willis is usually incomplete or abnormal, and the correlations between the structure and the blood compensatory potency are seldom studied. Purpose: To investigate the anatomic variation of the circle of Willis and its possible compensatory function investigated by 64 multi-detectors computed tomography angiography (64-MDCTA). Methods: A total of 72 patients who were suspected of cerebral vascular disease were performed by 64-MDCTA. The cerebral vessels were reconstructed in the console workstation. The anatomical characters of circle of Willis were observed in different rotation axis. Results: The circle of Willis was divided into modern type (17 cases), primitive type (2 cases), transitional type (2 cases), mixed type (12 cases), hypoplasia type (28 cases), contemporary type (7 cases) and indefinite type (4 cases). Anterior circulations were integrated in 56 cases (78%), posterior circulations were integrated in 36 cases (50%), and the whole circulations were integrated in 30 cases (42%). Typical structures of circle of Willis and good compensatory functions were found in 16 patients (22%). Conclusions: The anatomic variation of circle of Willis and the blood circuitous compensation potency can be assessed and evaluated preliminarily by 64-MDCTA.
