Teflon-AF is a new material with a refractive index lower than that of the water (n = 1.33). The resonance Raman spectra of aqueous beta-carotene at extremely low concentration from 10(-5) to 10(-10) mol/L were obtained by Teflon-AF fibre. The Raman intensity can be enhanced, and the. detection limit can be improved approximately 1000 times. The technique of resonance Raman scattering in Teflon-AF fibre provides new and effective way for the detection of molecules in aqueous solution.
