摘要

Functional neuroimaging is providing a wealth of new data about higher cognitive functions and their putative neuroanatomic bases, However, a vast literature of cognitive neuropsychology already exists and provides a basis for interpreting imaging data, To our knowledge, the present work represents the first attempt to organize this literature into a coherent overview of the anatomic sites of higher cognitive functions and neuropsychological syndromes. It uses a uniform set of brain drawings and tables to facilitate rapid access and comparisons, Part I summarizes deficits in five cognitive brain functions: visual object and face recognition, spatial perception, auditory word comprehension, and voluntary actions, The charts provided specifically depict the lesions expected for right-handed adults who were impaired in adulthood, so that their use is best restricted to that population.
