摘要

The resultative-predicate construction in Chinese. This paper studies the resultative construction in Chinese, adopting the theoretical model of the Generative Lexicon proposed by Pustejovsky (1991, 1995), and the classification of events proposed by De Miguel and Fernandez Lagunilla (2000, 2004, 2007) and Fernandez Lagunilla and De Miguel (2003). The analysis shows that, in Chinese, the resultative construction can delimit an atelic event by adding a change of state, and emphasize the culmination of the point of change if the event in its Event Structure already contains this information. On the one hand, the study of the resultative constructions in Chinese provides consolidated evidence on the existence of compositional nature of lexical aspect, and on the other hand, it confirms the hypothesis that the lexical information is a relevant factor in determining the correctness of a combination of words.
