We confirm the long range correlation concerning hydrophilicity and flexibility along a number of 30 hydrolase sequences. In our study we take into account the background of every amino acid by using hydrophilicity and flexibility plots. For each of these spatial series the spectral coefficient beta, the scaling exponent a and the Hurst exponent H were determined. The obtained values, beta = 1.808 +/- 0.115, alpha = 1.198 +/- 0.024, H = 1.001 for flexibility and beta = 1.589 +/- 0.131, alpha = 1.187 +/- 0.019 respective H = 0.841 for hydrophilicity, suggest long range correlation concerning hydrophilicity and flexibility of hydrolases. Our results are similar with the correlation properties revealed by other investigated proteins and it sustains the hypothesis that the long range correlation of hydrophilicity and flexibility along the chain is a common feature of proteins.
