Diversity of the Noctuoidea in the Chilean Patagonia with description of a new species (Aysen Region, XI Region, Chile) (Lepidoptera: Erebidae, Noctuidae)

Noctuoidea collected from areas around Baker and Pascua rivers South of Aysen of the General Carlos Ibanez del Campo XI Region, during eight seasons between January 2006 and December 2007 were studied. Genitalia and wing maculation were analyzed. A total of 19 genera with 34 species belonging to the family Erebidae, subfamily Erebinae and family Noctuidae, subfamilies Cuculliinae, Hadeninae and Noctuinae were identified. These results differ from those of ORTIZ (2007), who only mentions 11 species for the Aysen Region.
