摘要

Self-assembly and positional assembly are two main methods of molecular nanomanufacturing. In the present paper, the adaptive strategy for adaptive assembly based nanomanufacturing, which integrates the advantages of self-assembly and positional assembly to fabricate products with multiscale structures and multilevel of functionalities, was studied. Adaptive strategy is applied in the nanomanufacturing according to the requirements of structures and functionalities of products. Positional assembly approach is implemented in regions with features in structures and functionalities, and self-assembly approach in other regions. Adaptive assembly based nanomanufacturing is also much more flexible and has greater potential to make a wide range of products. It is highly interdisciplinary; emerging nanotechnologies, such as computer aided nanodesign, multiscale modelling, visualisation, nanomanipulation can greatly support and foster it. The present paper reviews the advance and progress of self-assembly, positional assembly and the above emerging nanotechnologies, provides the framework and the methodology of the adaptive assembly based nanomanufacturing and discusses the feasibility of implementing the adaptive assembly based method.
