摘要

Composite materials are well known for their excellent specific strength and are widely used in the aerospace, automobile and other industries. The study of green composites (or bio composites) that actively use environment-friendly natural fibers and biodegradable resins is advanced because of the international cognizance of environmental damage. Biodegradable resins damage the natural environment less than general purpose high molecular resins, but the mechanical properties of the biodegradable resins are not as good. The purpose of this study was to determine the mechanical property differences between an epoxy resin and a PBS (poly butylene succinate) resin for bamboo fiber reinforced composites. Moreover this work evaluated the mechanical properties by volume fraction of the bamboo fiber. The test result showed that the mechanical properties were higher when using the PBS resin and increasing the volume fraction of the fiber. The strength of the original epoxy resin was excellent compared to the PBS resin, but the strength of the bamboo fiber composite was higher with the PBS resin.
