A Novel Schiff Base Copper(II) Complex for Inhibiting Growth of Human Hemangioma Cells

A new Schiff base copper(II) complexe 2 with the formula (Cu2L2) (1) [L is 1,2-bis(salicylidenamino) ethane], was prepared and characterized by physicochemical methods and single crystal X-ray determination. The antitumor activities of title compound 2 and its corresponding organic ligands (1) were investigated for inhibiting human hemangioma cells (KB and NCI-H1688) growth by MTT assay. It was found that compared with the ligand 1, title compound 2 exerted rather potent activities against all of these cell lines.
