摘要

A simple algorithm is presented for the calculation of an approximate electrophoretic mobility of a spherical colloidal particle in an electrolyte solution. The obtained expressions are based on an approximate form of the modified Poisson-Boltzmann equation taking into account the ion size effects through Carnahan-Starling activity coefficients of electrolyte ions (J Chem Phys 51:635,31). Agreement with the exact numerical results by Lopez-Garcia et al. (J Colloid Interface Sci 458:273,27) is good for most practical cases.
