摘要

In view of that the present high dynamic range (HDR) image's tone mapping algorithms are in low efficiency and poor effect, a tone mapping algorithm based on color appearance model and hierarchical model is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the bilateral filter is speeded up by using discrete Gaussian kernel. Secondly, to solve the color cast problem, the tone compression is processed in RGB color space instead of HPE color space. Finally, the detail layer's effect is adjusted in the Stevens effect. In addition, the color saturation is enhanced for presenting more details and more real appearance in the image after tone mapping. Compared with classical algorithms, plenty of experimental results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper performs best in terms of visual quality and objective indicators. Compared with the original algorithm, it improves the efficiency by more than 6 times, the image entropy by an average of 0.046, the image definition by an average of 0.159 and the edge keeping degree by an average of 1.811. Subjectively, it reduces the color cast and halos. The details appear more clearly and the color is more rich and natural as well. The analysis indicates that the tone mapping algorithm proposed in this paper has obvious advantages in high efficiency and high visual quality display. It can be used for advanced image editing and display equipment development.
