摘要
This paper describes the basic health status and health needs of long-distance-truck drivers, including the diseases they most frequently contract and the habits and behaviors that may lead to HIV/STIs infection. It is based on questionnaire and in-depth interviews conducted at a drivers' plaza in Kunming. SPSS11.5 was used for statistical analysis. A total of 201 valid questionnaires were obtained. Among the surveyed drivers, 56.5% were suffering from stomach trouble, 51.0% stated that they were having lumbocrural pain, 42.8% had had sex with over 2 casual partners in the previous year, and only 3. 0% and 7.5% correctly answered questions on HIV transmission route (11 items) and HIV prevention (6 items), respectively. Based on these results we conclude that long-distance-truck drivers are vulnerable to occupational disease and HIV/STIs infection. To address their health problems and change their HIV/STIs related risky behaviors is a systematic project which requires government policy, broad participation of social actors, as well as improved health education and decision making by long-distance-truck drivers themselves.
