摘要

We report an unusual case of positive somatostatin receptor scintigraphy in a patient with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. A 49-year-old man presented with a left neck mass. Whole-body In-111 pentetreotide images along with SPECT/CT revealed uptake over the left neck mass consistent with a somatostatin receptor-avid tumor. At surgery, the mass was removed along with an unsuspected lesion at the tongue base. Pathology revealed invasive squamous cell carcinoma in both. This is the first described case of squamous cell carcinoma of the neck demonstrating somatostatin receptor avidity.
