摘要

In two studies we show that people are more likely to make sustainable choices when there is a level fit between time perspectives (short term versus long term) and person perspectives (me versus other). When people have both a global time focus (long term) and a global person focus (other) or both a specific time focus (short term) and a specific person focus (me), they attach more importance to sustainability. Furthermore, we show that when there is a level fit between time and person perspectives, feelings concerning the effectiveness of sustainable behavior are likely to increase and as a result people are more willing to make sustainable choices. Implications of these results for promoting sustainable behavior are discussed.
