摘要

In this paper, we described a motorized wheelchair system which is capable of recognizing surrounding terrain information and using this to control its motors based on attached hybrid sensor modules; hence, it is able to provide safer wheelchair riding. People with low recognition ability can easily handle unexpected circumstance which might cause accidents by using this proposed system. The complementary and Kalman filters were applied and tested in various terrains and the proper algorithm was formulated according to different circumstances which provided the test result. An SOS service system was developed, which uses GPS-based location calculation, to enable users to ask for help anytime anywhere by using their smartphones. Adoption of the present proposed motorized wheelchair system, wheelchair users can ride now their wheelchair much safer.
